Skylar Zhang is an LA-based editor and VFX editor with a multicultural background. A member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild and the German Federal Association of Film Editors (BFS), her work in the editorial department includes the Critics Choices Award nominee Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, the Emmy-Nominated docu-series The Andy Warhol Diaries, and most recently Zack Snyder’s sci-fi epic Rebel Moon.
Skylar graduated from the American Film Institute Conservatory with an MFA in Editing, where her thesis film Dia de las Carpas, was a winner at the DGA Student Film Awards. Straight out of AFI, Skylar got her foot in the door in the industry by working for the Academy Award-nominated editor Dody Dorn as her assistant editor. Skylar’s feature editorial debut Baby, Don’t Cry, premiered at Fantasia Film Festival in Quebec in 2021.
Skylar was a Film Independent Project Involve fellow in ‘22. Contour, her latest editor credit, is set to premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.
